I ❤ Rosie huntington-whiteley

Rosie is 22 and is best known for her modelling with Victoria Secrets and Burberry!

Rosie started on the road to fame in 2003, when she was discovered by model agency Profile - after campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY, she went on to model for Agent Provocateur and replaced Agyness Deyn as the face of Burberry in 2008.

She is absolutely beautiful and I love her general style anyway! Cant wait to catch her in the new victoria secrets show in December!

Merchandising the Xmas Windows

Today I helped my manager at work with the christmas windows which was really fun but it was a big job and we had spent the day before preparing what we were going to put in each of the windows and clearing them out ready! We kind of had an idea of the colours we wanted to use and we knew what we were going to put on the mannequins. We started by laying the fabric snow in each window.

I then started putting bows and ribbons on bags and boxes to go in the windows! We also thought it would be cool to do something different with the lights so I made

holes in the boxes so that we could poke the lights through!

This was really effective!

I also sprayed each of the corners of all three windows which looked really cool when they finally frosted up!

This was one of the smarter mannequins which we picked a satin vivienne Westwood suit and shirt! It looked really smart when it was in!

In each of the windows I also made little boxes up of some of the accessories as I thought that would be good idea for christmas presents when people walk by! almost like little xmas hampers! That took a while arranging the small boxes into the right colour coordinations and placing things to look right!

Each window had a slightly different theme so it was just a case of arranging things to look right on the tables and on the floor.

The first window was the smart window, the second was more casual with thick jumpers, jeans and scarves and the third window was a bit younger with hoodies and trainers more of a fun window for our younger customers!

In this picture I was just giving the windows a final touch by adding some sparkly glitter to the snow!

Farewell Luella!

Ow im really sad .. Luella Bartley has announced that she has stopped trading because of financial problems as they were unable to fill their orders for the up and coming seasons!

She is one of my favourite designers so I hope they eventually revive the brand!

Luella Bartley is known for her use of playful colours and the fancy names she gives her shows! Her first show was called 'Daddy I want a Pony!'

Styling Mum!

Mum before. She always wears ugg boots to be comfy but they just look so wrong!

Mum liked the colour of this jumper dress and I thought this would be nice to wear with tights in the day instead of scruffy jeans. The colour actually looked really nice with her skin tone and the shape of the dress made her look slimmer and complimented her figure. I thought it was nice with this black ruffely scarf too.

I thought this pink cardigan was cute with the ruffled shoulders and I put it with this frilly black high waisted skirt for a bit of a smarter day outfit.

The second picture I really liked the shape of this cardigan and it was another colour mum said she liked but doesn’t normally wear and I tried to create a layered effect using the taupe scarf. The trousers were some smart slim leg black trousers that fitted really well and look a bit nicer than just normal denim jeans.

I grabbed this furry jacket to team with the black trousers as I thought it was a really nice soft looking jacket and it really suited her! This would be perfect to chuck on day and night as it gives that glamerous expensive looking effect.

The second picture I was just trying to show how she could get some more detailed basics in different colours just to go under things. This peachy top had really nice shoulder detail to make it look scrunched and even just the plain top with jeans was nice.

I thought this gillet was really cosy for the winter and quite easy just to put on over a basic top. Also it was quite high at the neck and mum said she didn’t really like her neck so I was trying to find different garments that would cover it up a bit more so she would feel happier.

The second picture I just put a black silky cami with a champagne coloured blazer this look was a bit more effortless but still quite dressy. A nicer blazer is a good key piece just to slip on with a nice pair of jeans or trousers.

In this case I was trying to draw my mum away from black but it was hard with a lot of the evening stuff as everything was black! This dress was really pretty and I knew she would like it so I let her try it but I tried to show her by splashing in the pink that it’s nice to add a colour in so she’s not always in black every time she goes out at night! She wasn’t so keen on the pink so I also teamed it up with this black sequin waistcoat, so she could see by adding a bit of colour of sparkle it jazz’s a black dress up!

I thought this dress was really pretty for an older lady and my mum doesn’t normally have long dresses so I made her try it! I thought the shape and colour was quite nice together but this sort of dress would be nice for more of an occasion rather than just a party outfit!

Conclusion

Luckily as we went early in the morning I was able to get lots of different outfit looks all in H& M. This was good as the bournemouth store is quite a big one and has a huge ladies section so we had quite a lot too choose from. Also my mum only buys a few bits from there normally and she cannot normally be bothered to try things on so this was a good experience to show her that if you know what your looking for and you try the right things they can actually look really good!

One thing I did learn is that is was quite hard shopping for someone older and trying to find colours they like and suit as I am so use to looking for things me and my friends might like, so I had to really think about what could look good, what she would feel comfortable in and what colours will look right together for someone older.

More styling!

For the rest of this week we have been carrying on with our trend books!

Also in Sarahs lessons she has set us another styling task, in the lesson we paired up and interviewed each other about what we liked/ disliked about ourselves, who are heroes were and things like that to get an idea of each persons style and it was then up to us to say what we would change about the other persons style and if we had unlimited credit what we would give them! This was a fun task and we have been set the task of going round with those partners and helping them choose an outfit based on our findings for a practice! After we have had a practice we have to pick someone else to do the report on and take round the shops to help them find some outfits it's basically a task to get us to practice getting to know our client and finding them something they are happy with that maybe they wouldn't have thought to try before. I am going to do mine on my mum as I know I could find some different looks for her that she will look good in that I know she wouldn't think to try on herself! So when we have been out an found the outfits i will upload my photos!

We have also been given the task to look at lots of different magazines such as pop, Wonderland, Viewpoint, Plastique, Purple, self service, Loola, Selvedge and Adbusters! Most of them i have looked at and heard of before but the ones i haven't I am going to have a hunt for this weekend!

Styling!

Its our fifth week in so all our mood boards are out the way an it's kind of over to the designers now to come up with some design ideas for our individual group projects. In the meantime we have a lot of sessions with Sarah. On Monday we went through some power points about styling an all the different types of jobs you could do with styling. We were then set a task to get in pairs and choose a topic from a list of 5 themes to go an take some pictures of styling to suit your theme. We had to have our pictures ready to show at 2.30pm the following day.

Me an Kathryn decided to choose the eighties theme we had some really cool ideas with accessories and garments that we both had and we just took lots of pictures and decided to edit our favourite ones. It was a really fun task we made a PowerPoint to show our photos, Sarah was really impressed with every bodies photos as we all got really into it an enjoyed it! I particularly enjoyed this task as its a subject I am really interested in!
